The Necklace

Everyone has different values and different priorities in their life. In the stories The Necklace by Guy de Maupassant and Rocking Horse Winner by D.H Lawrence, we are presented with ii characters named Mathilde and Hester whose values and priorities are superficial and materialistic. Each of them are pang with their life, obsessed with money and are unable to love those rough in them. The climax of each story is the consequences of their misplaced values, and what it eventually beg them. In The necklace we find that Mathilde was selfish and unless valued materialistic things. She was unappreciative for what she had and jealous of all those that had more. She had no clothes, no jewels, nothing. And these were the only things she loved. Mathilde felt up that life had been unfair to her by not creation subjective into the highest socio-economic class of society. She believed that she was owed more than what she had been granted and she suffered end lessly, feeling herself born for both delicacy and luxury. Mathilde was not in the lowest class as she had a maid and her get hitched with man made an in force(p) living, but this was not enough for Mathilde.
